For 8-year-old Stella Puzo, her school’s playground wasn’t as fun as it could be.
Due to her cerebral palsy, little Stella used a wheelchair to get around. When it came to playing outside, Stella couldn’t make her way to all the equipment because of the mulch and wood chips that filled the area.
Stella wasn’t able to join her friends on the playground like every other kid. Then, her school took notice and did something amazing.
In the video below, posted on August 9, 2017, Stella explains, “I got stuck.” Her wheelchair just couldn’t make it through the group material surrounding the playground.
A man named Gino Cresta proposed a new project to make the playground more accessible to Stella and other kids with disabilities.
Now, a new rubberized floor allows Stella to travel around the playground with her wheelchair and be with her friends again during recess. Every part of the area is accessible to her now with the new floor.
Stella’s mom sees that her daughter can laugh, play, and be just like all the other kids and completely breaks down in tears.
It simply doesn’t get any better than this.
Check out how this playground looks now, and please SHARE if you’re so glad Stella can hang out with all of her friends during recess without feeling left out or held back!
