Julie Andrews is one of the most respected actresses out there. The 82-year-old actress has had a career spanning decades.
Julie is most well-known for her roles in Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Victor/Victoria. These films barely hit the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this incredible woman, though.
To this day, she still works in the industry, and you can hear her voice in Shrek and Despicable Me. That said, her roles as Mary Poppins and Maria von Trapp are the ones people remember most.
While filming The Sound of Music in 1964, Julie struck up a friendship with her costar Christopher Plummer, who played Captain von Trapp. Since the film’s release in 1965, Julie and Christopher have remained close. In 2015, the two stars sat down with Vanity Fair to talk about their half-century-long friendship.
And the hit film wasn’t their only project together; the two also co-starred in a live TV production of On Golden Pond in 2001 and toured together for a stage show called A Royal Christmas.
Although they never pursued a romantic relationship, the pair seem almost like an old married couple. Their friendship was almost instant, and to this day they both remember their time filming fondly.
