Watch Olympic Figure Skater Adam Rippon Take The Ice At Age 13 In This Adorable 2003 Footage

We’re right in the middle of the Winter Olympics. Even if you’re not a sports-lover, you’re probably at least somewhat paying attention to what’s going on in the competitions.

So far, some of the most impressive feats of athleticism have included figure skater Mirai Nagasu’s triple axel and Chloe Kim’s near-perfect snowboarding run.

One of the other stars during this year’s winter games is Adam Rippon, a figure skater with a huge personality. He made waves by thanking his “haters,” and later had a heartwarming exchange with Reese Witherspoon on Twitter.

Needless to say, Adam has been in the news a lot. But he wasn’t always a huge star.

Like many other Olympians, he came from humble beginnings. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Adam is the oldest of six siblings.

He didn’t start figure skating until he was ten years old, when his mom brought him to the ice rink with her. Adam quickly picked up skating skills, and by the time he was 13, it was obvious he was going places.

Now, the 28-year-old has a lot of flare on the ice — and in the footage below, filmed in 2003, shows that he always knew how to perform.

Check out the video below to see 13-year-old Adam on the ice, and if you’re following him in the Olympics, please SHARE this article with your friends!
