A heartbroken mom needs help tracking down a priceless necklace.
WFTS Tampa reports that Chasity Foster, a teacher from Augusta, Georgia, tragically lost her 17-year-old daughter, Shaylin. The athletic and academically gifted high school senior was on her way to school last month when she was involved in a fatal car crash.
Before Shaylin’s death, the mother-daughter pair used to run marathons together, including Disney World marathons. Before her death, Shaylin had signed up for the 10th Anniversary Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 25, 2018. Her friends and family decided to run the race in her honor.
Chasity wore a cross necklace containing Shaylin’s ashes so that her daughter could be there with her in spirit as she ran. Unfortunately, the cross (which has the late teen’s name engraved in the back) fell off at some point during the marathon. Now, Chasity is asking for help tracking it down.
Alongside photos of Shaylin running the 2017 Princess Half Marathon and the cross necklace, Chasity wrote on Facebook:
“Today, we ran the princess half marathon. This race I run with Shaylin Foster, Nicole Bowen, Diane Carson Baker, Beth Morgan Lamar, Kheri Cooper Cash, and Wesley. Unfortunately, because Shaylin was killed in car accident on January 10, 2018, she was not able to run. She was signed up, had [a] costume and was ready to run. Her father took her spot and even wore her costume. During the race my necklace containing Shaylin’s ashes fell off between the entrance of Magic Kingdom parking entrance toll area and where princes stood. If anyone finds this, please let me know. Please share with everyone!!”
Since posting on February 25, 2018, Chasity’s plea for help has been shared over 12,500 times. As of her most recent update to the post at the time of this article’s publishing, Chasity confirmed that the cross is still missing.
Check out the video below for a closer look at the lost cross. According to WFTS Tampa, the grieving mom has asked anyone who finds the necklace to contact her at ChasFoster7@gmail.com or via her Facebook page or to simply turn the cross in to Disney World’s lost and found office.
